Happy August everyone!

I hope you have all had a terrific summer and are recharged and ready for a new school year! Below is what’s coming down the pipeline as we head into the fall. 


2021 Marching Band Camp 

Band Camp begins this Monday, 8/9 at 9am! Camp will go from 8am-5pm 8/9-8/13 and 8/16-8/20, with an end-of-camp beach bonfire on 8/20. Every student joining the marching band needs to register and pay their suggested contribution by Monday, 8/9. Go to for links to registration, donation, and more information.


We will also need some parent volunteers to assist with the following: 

  1. Uniform fittings and hemming measurements (Monday, 8/9 8am-10am and Tuesday, 8/17 8am-10am for make-ups)

  2. Snacks/treats for our marching band members at the end of each camp day. We need some folks to volunteer to brings popsicles, etc. at the end of the day (5pm) on the following dates: 8/12, 8/16, 8/18, 8/19, 8/20. 

  3. Beach bonfire: we are planning to have a beach bonfire starting at noon on the last day of camp—Friday, 8/20. We need a couple parents to coordinate this and secure a bonfire pit for the day. The students will head down to the beach immediately at the end of camp.

Snack Bar 

Running the snack bar at home football games is one of our major fundraisers and a lot of fun! Our first home game is Thursday, 8/26 at Davidson Field; kick-off is 7pm. We need a lot of parent volunteers to make this important fundraiser work, so we need your help! Please contact Alecia Aviles or Chela Campos on details and to sign up. 


2022 Memorial Day Marching Band Trip

We have been nominated by our congresswoman, Michelle Steel, to represent our district and California in the 2022 Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C.!! All members of the Instrumental Music Program and alumni are welcome to join us on this exciting and historic trip! Look for details on our website and plan to attend our information meeting on Wednesday, 9/1 @ 6pm in the Newport Harbor High School Music Room, 105 for more information!


Fall Parent Meeting

The Newport Harbor Music Education Foundation Board is hosting our first all-parent meeting on Wednesday, August 25 (first Wednesday of the school year) 5:30-7:30pm at a local restaurant. Refreshments will be provided! Plan on attending to meet with the Board, Mr. Julian, our principal Sean Boulton, find out about the program this year and how to support our students, and receive a welcome gift! Details on location TBA.


Mattress Fundraiser

To help offset the costs of the 2022 DC Trip, we will be hosting a Mattress Fundraiser on the Newport Harbor High School campus. Save the date for Saturday, 9/11! Details will be going out via email, our website, and social media, and we will have a brief overview of this terrific fundraiser at our 8/25 parent meeting. Start spreading the word, and ask yourself—when was the last time you replaced your mattress?
